I am not a person who changes jobs easily. I worked at my other 2 jobs for 10 years each.I left both due to involuntary transfers due to drop in enrollment, where I was last hired so first to go.
I have never felt at home in the school I went to this year. It started when I first met the principal & she bragged about missing her son's birthday to go to work.
It got worse when my husband had abdominal surgery for suspected cancer & I was out for a week.when I came back, only one person asked me if me husband died, got better or remanined in a coma! (he is fine now, but it was a hairy time)
Plus I went from teaching severely handicapped children in my own class to co-teaching with 2 5th grade teachers with children with mild learning problems.Big difference! Neither of those teachers were very welcoming, not mean, but into looking out for themselves, which didn't include encouraging a new person.
In short, it has been a nightmare!
I kept a positive outlook & tried to findk some good in every day.I made a friend. It is okay.
But , yesterday I interviewed for a new job!
I went to a Saturday workshop. I didn't want to go , it was The Week of the Tooothache. There I saw a resource teacher I knew who said that other people wanted to hire me & told me about this unit that was new.It si a severe & multi disability unit, self contained. The principal had asked for me.
I went yesterday & there was really no interview to it! She asked me if I wanted to come & hugged me when i said yes! I said I had mailed her my resume (when really I couldn't find it) and she said , "I don't need a resume! I have heard so many good things about you!" (I don't want to come off as bragging here, but I was highlly respected in my old school & my ego was severely challenged in the one I am sentenced to now)
Its a good thing because Dragon Lady of the Carreer Women was not at all pleased when I told her I was taking a half day to go to Caitlin's graduation from 8th grade today!
I am ready to shake the dust of that place off my feet!

Life is wonderful at times! How wonderful for you! (it took me days to find my resume....the company I work for had it on record in St. Louis! Thank God!)
So glad your sentence was commuted. Onward............

I am so happy for you. It speaks volumes for you that you were asked for even before you applied for this new position. Way to go! Sam
Congrats and good luck. The Dragon Lady of the Carreer Women is foolish, and you know it. You know what that 'work is everything' attitude does to a family. Your husband and Caitlin needed you more during those times than your principal did.
