wow what a weekend part 2

Sunday we went to Baton Rouge LA (a three hour trip )for a cheer leading competition...
enough energy there too power a small city.
Loud!
Caitlin's team was second place
And had a lot of laughs....

The city is really unique and has a lovely little waterfront park.
While the little cheerleaders pranced, Tom and I and Caitlin's boyfriend Thomas explored a bit.

wow what a weekend

My nephew Kelley, who is 23and wants to be
a policeman
a Marine
a musician
a Celtic priest
when he grows up
(but he shows no sign of doing so)
or being anything but adorable....
had a Halloween party.
My family is so weird.....these are all my nieces and nephews, some of my nephews looking like nieces
Can you guess what Tom and I are?

Feeling Better

I went to Habitat for Humanity with Caitlin, but I dont' need to be framing, they have big strapping teenage boys for that. I'll come back when it's time to hang sheetrock and paint.

So we went to the Fair instead.

(the pic of the cop is Tom with his head through one of those cut-out thingys....hilarious if you know Tom)

Did you ever hear Jeff Foxworthy's routine about, "If you ever feel bad about yourself, just go to a county fair. By the time you look around at some of the people there, you start to feel better about your family. After a while, you start thinking, we're pretty near royalty"

Yeah, we got on this ride , so now there's nothing left to do, but throw up your hands and yell....the signs say "no refund"

Yelling,

Marti

Bayfest

Last weekend was Bayfest

the downtown streets were closed to traffic and filled with fun.

We go every year

We've seen it grow from 3 stages to a venue for big name acts like Velvet Revolver and LeeAnn Rimes this year.

My picks for best of the fest this year were Joan Jett and Sparks, a malt liquor/energy drink.

Joan rocked the crowd with everything we wanted to hear...

"I Love Rock N Roll"

"I Hate Myself for Loving you"

plus a great cover of Sly and the Family Stone's "Everyday People"

and the Sparks gave me a good buzz and the energy to stay up for it! Caffiene and alchohol....what a combo!

The part I loved the most was the pile of teenagers on my floor and the friends gathered around my table.
