butterfly

My dog Butterfly that we have had for ten years walked into the room goofily grinning, made a strage strangled sound & fell down dead.

i want to leave some memories of her here so later on , when I want to breathe in the warm doggy smell of her coat, i can read about her.

she was  abig black "Chowbrador".she got big real fast on all the Oreo cookies & peanut buter sandwiches a little girl didn't want to eat.

she lovead to go for walks with me so much taht if I was going somewhere with my tennis shoes on & didn't take her, I would have to sneak out the front door.

She ususally slept by the door, guarding us , but every once in a while she would decide to sleep in our bed & would stand over us with her teeth gleaming in the dark until we moved ver to give her room.

she wouldn't let any man near our yard, snarling in a way that make her sweet name ludicrous, but all the babies we know crawled all over her& got kissed by her big purple tounge.

when she got out of the front door, she wouldn't come back unless I used a deep loud growly voice to call her & then shelooked so embarrassed when she trotted up.

We are so sad. For the rest of my life I am going to have my hand cupped to feel a cold nose & part of me will be listening for the sound of her toenails on the kitchen floor. I will be so lonely whenever I put on my tennis shoes to go for a walk.

I am so sorry for you. I am in the process of finding homes for all my dogs because I do not think I could handle this experience. I have a difficult time accepting death. I cannot be philosophical about death...the loss of a loved one is so immense to me ... maybe because I love them so deeply...it feels like they take a piece of my heart...making the decision to find homes for my dogs immediately had me crying hysterically....what would I do if I really went through a permanent loss as you did? i shudder to think of it. It is fortunate Butterfly never sufffered.Courtenay http://journals.aol.com/courtenaymphelan/WISDOM

((((((marti)))))))) I just went through this 2 weeks ago......hurts that heart like no other. My children and I have had to go through this with 4 dogs, but when we look at how much love they gave us it is sooo worth the pain of loosing them. I am now down to just one pup 'Boo' I hope to have him as long as I had gizzy over 14 years. I just can't imagine my life without a dog in it.

I'm sorry about your Butterfly....maybe she can play with my Angel at the Rainbow Bridge.....even though its been about a month...I still want to say "Hollar for the Hoover" when Mac drops food on the floor...and her place at my feet while I'm on the computer will always be achingly empty....
While they are here..they add so much to our lives...and when they go they take so much with them...
