miscommunication

Teenagers are sprawled about my house like a Clearasil commercial.

I am playing the "cool mom" role , making hamburgers & brownies while getting earstrain trying to hear what's being said.

Everyone is enthusiastic about the promised burgers.

I come out to offer the brownie bowl to be licked.

They all glare at me as though I have suggested something completely off the wall!

Hurt, I retreat back to the kitchen.

When did they get too cool to lick brownie bowls?

later, I mentioned I had chocolate on my jeans.

"chocolate!", they all demanded as one,"where's the chocolate?"

"I made brownies, I asked you if you wanted to lick the bowl"

"oh", they chorused, "we thought you meant the hamburger bowl!"

too funny! It always amazes me how the next generation thinks they are soooo much hipper then the one that came before them! But how much cooler can you be when we lived during the 60's and the 70's? Those are the era's they they are copying everything from now anyway......straight hair, flaired jeans, flowing tops, acustic  music..paaaahleazzzzzzze! we were much cooler then them! lol

Ah yes, a well lived life IS a series of adventures, isn't it?  Like a zit in desperate need of Clearasil, so too are teenagers in need of their "cool mom."  (I know I'm stretching with that zit/Clearasil comment.)  I love reading your stories and adventures.  Ummm... pass the brownie bowl please.

LOL I'd look at you funny too if I thought I was about to lick a hamburger bowl. Brownie bowl on the other hand, yumm! Teenages, ahhhh, I'm getting so used to the divine world of them and their little giggles.
