Celebrating Stacey

It's Stacey's 45th trip around the sun.

So here we all come to The Porch.

How we came to be here is a 24 year story....

Pull up a chair and have some sweet tea.

I was 27 and had a two year old little girl. I had quit teaching for awhile to stay home with her.

Tom and I had a rare night out, atthe home of my high school boyfriend Phillip, whom I have stayed friends with all these years. He even lived with Tom and I for a while.

(be careful, once you become friends with me, you are pretty well stuck with me)

There, on that New Year's Eve 1983, I met Stacey .We laughed and talked all night. After midnight, we ended up at Paddy's.

If you don't look too close, Paddy's is just a bar, a rather dingy one at that. But they make good stiff drinks and the clientel isnt too fancy.

Several months later, Paula was leaving to go to Rowatan to work in a resort, having finished her degree,I kinda walked into her job. Actually, the owner had hired someone else, but Stacey said , NO, Marti needs this job.

This is the way we met.

Now we are family.....Paula, Dana, Stephanie, Stacy, Tom, Steve, Craig and I.

Together, we have 15 children

10 marriages

Live in 4 states

Have been on 10 vacations

Buried 3 fathers

seen the sun come up countless times,

raised, love , fed and scolded each others kids,

It's another year for Stacey

And we're still here on The Porch.

Together.
