Cuttin'Up

I pretty much got over that funk I was in a while back.

I started Yoga

working out at the gym

volunteering with families in crisis

going to a community church group

and I am better.

I still am scared of Interstates, though.

But

all this got me thinking

I remember almost nothing from my childhood....

Hmmm

Maybe I need therapy.

Then my mom had a fall.

She wasn't hurt badly, thank God

but she had to stay with me for 4 days

during which time I actually jumped up and down in frustration 3 times!

So I went to a therapist

(right after I took Mom home)

They asked a lotof questions

was I suicidal?

no

was I homicidal?

no

Did I ever hurt myself?

no

Did I ever cut myself?

NO

Again, pointedly...Was I SURE I nver cut myself?

YES!

The therapist gave an extrememly significant glare at my leg.

Sure enough, there was blood soaking my jeans, down into my shoe....

I had a little cut shaving and thought it had quit bleeding.....

only me....

I swear, I'm just having a little problem dealing with an aging parent.......

OMG... too funny!  He thought you were an emo cutter gal!  LOL  I do hope the therapy helps... it is hard to deal with parents period, and if you have some unresolved shit, well, then, even harder!!!  {{{ hugs and love }}}

be well,
Dawn

Oh, that's embrassing. Memory is a funny thing, if you sit quietly and think of people from old times like your grandparents...nothing comes to you? I can remember being ten years old and sitting on my Grandparents porch in Norfolk swinging on their porch swing while it thundered & poured all around me - but I felt safe contained on their porch.....maybe that's why I love your porch stories so much.....love, Sandi

It's a wonder they didn't run right in with a straight jacket for you dear!! LOL  The rotten joke of life is that right when we are entering years of change in our lives, parents are reaching that time when they need us most.  I don't know if you need a therapist or not, but I'll lend you some moral support and a prayer.  -  BArbara

Dealing with aging parents can be VERY difficult.
They say it exacerbates and magnifies any existing family problems.

I have been there done that (my parents were somewhat difficult and noncompliant) and I have a good friend who has been doing it on her totally own (no siblings, little outside support) for over 5 years. It has beome her entire life.

It can be exhausting and draining.
Good luck to you.
Glad to see a new journal entry.

We took care of Rusty's mom after my father in law passed away. I helped take care of my dad while he was on his death bed. I so know where you are coming from. I am here for you. I will be strong when you feel like you can't be. The kettle is always on, so stop by.

Over the years I've found that therapists are more troubled than the people they take money from.  Hmmmm

Oh dear!  LOL  I like all of the changes you have made!  Good for you.  I spent a week with my mom and didn't jump up and down with anger but about once.  First time in years!!!!  I'm making progress.  But yeah, I don't remember much about my childhood either.

Some days I wish quite a bit of the trunk full of memories that are resurfacing for me stayed lost in the attic of my mind. They have a way of creeping up on you unawares....Therapy.....It can help , if you can find one that actually listens to you instead of elaborating on what they think is wrong without having heard a word you said. All the things you've been doing sound positive. Your in my thoughts dear friend. Stay safe and loved! Oh, and stop cutting yourself (winks). (Hugs) Indigo

What worries me is, what are our kids going to say about us when we get to that age?

Linda.

A Polish man got the shock of his life when he visited a brothel and spotted his wife among the establishment's employees.

Polish tabloid Super Express said the woman had been making some extra money on the side while telling her husband she worked at a store in a nearby town.

"I was dumfounded. I thought I was dreaming," the husband told the newspaper on Wednesday.

The couple, married for 14 years, are now divorcing, the newspaper reported

So while your mom was there, did she tell you any stories about you growing up so you would remember? I hope she gets well soon! bea

Glad to hear it was a shaving cut. But honestly, been there and done that with an aging parent. I'm sending all my love and patience your way, because it is very hard to deal with them.
