Mariah

My oldest daughter reminds me of the song "Meet Virginia"
"She never compromises
loves babies and surprises
wears high heels when she exercises"
Mariah is
pink
 fluffy
frilly
steel.
She will go on a rant that is like a comedy routine about some guy she sees at a red light.
She rescues stray kittens
brings home baby rabbits
while dressed to the nines
without a hair out of place
She brings me coffee in bed before she goes to work.
She buys me expensive cosmetics I would NEVER buy for myself.
She does the sweetest things
because
to hear her tell it,
"I only like about 6 people so I can be extra nice to those few"
She has loved the same man since she was 16,
helped deliver her best friends baby,
does impromptu dance routines in convenience stores.
She has been the one I go to when the proverbial excrement hits the air conditioner since she was 12 years old.
She tells us all what to do
and we do it
Tom and I wonder where we got her from
We are happy if we can recall where we parked our car
Mariah alphabetizes her purse!
She loves deep
laughs hard
and always makes a fashion statement.
She is
billowy comforters
dark chocolate
Barbie dolls
and crime novels
She is the person you can call at 3 AM
She is the best friend I've ever had.
She is the foundation of The Porch.

Meet Mariah.

Mariah sounds so lovely! This is the time we sit back and can really enjoy them..our work is done and they turned out to be who they are meant to be and it's nice getting to know them, on their terms now not ours. This is when we get to say good job Mom and Dad good job!

Love
K.

I like the part about dancing in stores. I like to trade at a certain store in the next town over where they play good country music over the loud speaker. I've been known to do a little Texas two step down the isle. Paula

Sneeky. I love this entry, especially the part about frilly pink steel. Everyone should have someone like Mariah in her life. I love her name. You must have gotten it from Paint your Wagon, you know the song, 'They Call the Wind Mariah.'
